Moody’s on McConnell and Reid’s debt proposal

Senator Mitch McConnell’s proposal to raise the debt ceiling isn’t enough to save the U.S. from a lower bond rating according to Moody’s. Moody’s assessment is the plan doesn’t reduce deficit by enough and would only buy the U.S. a year or so before its rating is downgraded. What kind of actions might preserve the rating? Deficit-reduction actions totaling about $4 trillion.
