The Value That Steve Jobs Created

For what will Steve Jobs be remembered? Inventing the personal computer? Reinventing the way we listen to music? Changing the way we think about animated features? Giving new life to the telephone? Creating the tablet? Employing workers?

If you answered “employing workers,” you may be a politician. If you answered any of the other things, you are probably a normal consumer. Real economic progress is about finding new ways to create value for customers while using as few resources as possible. Steve Jobs did that, over and over again. And just about all of us are better off for it (even if we never bought a Mac product ourselves). Jobs are only as good as the valuable things they allow us to buy.

Steve Jobs will likely not and should not be remembered for the jobs he created. He should be remembered for the value he created.
