MassCityStates.org Launches

Worcester-MAMassachusetts’ Pioneer Institute this week launched a new web site, MassCityStats.org, a treasure trove of economic, educational, crime, and public management data for fourteen of the state’s so-called Middle Cities, the state’s historic industrial centers that are now in various stages of transition. It’s an interesting amalgamation of data from different sources that, if deployed in other states, could give residents of (and potential investors in) mid-size and transitioning cities a better sense of how different indicators are trending.

The site is worth checking out for anyone with an interest in local-level data, transition cities, and public accountability. It’s part of the Pioneer Institute’s Middle Cities Initiative, a good source for data and analysis on a number of local government issues in Massachusetts.
